Last year, we felt we’d been robbed of Christmas joy. This year, we initially thought we’d mix it up and create a feeling of newness with our scents. But then it dawned on me that really, we just want a bit of familiarity and comfort (this year more than most!) so this range is inspired by nostalgia for our favourite traditions. 

Christmas candles mean that winter is truly here, so our new The Holly range is perfect for evoking joyful memories. The scents of ‘Fir’ (a true Christmas tree scent) and ‘Noël’ (delicious notes of citrus and cinnamon) are as Christmassy as listening to ‘Last Christmas’ with a glass of mulled wine in one hand and a mince pie in the other. 

The range features a new glaze (the perfect shade of holly-green, of course) as well as two new Potts: ‘Dinner Pott’, the ultimate decoration for any Christmas meal, and the ‘Grand Pott’, a 600g 4-wick beauty, along with the classic Standard Pott, Petite Pott and MatchPott. 

Before I launched Pott, my pottery knowledge was limited, but over this past year, I’ve learned about what an incredibly skilled practice it is, and so I have an enormous amount of respect for our potters. When developing a new range, there are lots of stages, from rough direction, moodboards and initial glaze testing, to narrowing down the shade and perfecting the glaze performance. After we’d decided on the shade, we did about four more test runs to find the ideal consistency. When you open the kiln, you just know when you have found the perfect glaze and exactly what you are looking for.  

We love supporting local artisans, so when it came to the packaging, our limited-edition Christmas range needed an artist’s touch to finish it off. I’ve followed Em from The Mossy Hill for a while, and knew that her striking yet simple designs were exactly what we needed. The designs are joyful and playful, and artfully inspired by our new scents.
