About Us
Pott was born from two simple beliefs: love your planet and support local makers.
It all started after I read that in the UK, we burn around 360 million candles every year. I kept wondering—what happens to all the empty pots? Most end up in the bin. Or, if you’re like me, they gather dust in the back of a cupboard, waiting for a “one day” project that never quite happens (there are only so many makeup brush holders one person needs).
Every time I finished a candle, I felt that twinge of guilt. Surely we can do better than this? So I decided to create something different: a candle with a Pott you’d keep forever and refill again and again.
At Pott, we believe that small everyday choices – like reusing instead of throwing away – can make a real difference.
We want to make it easy (and beautiful) to enjoy candles in a way that’s better for the planet, while also supporting brilliant independent potters and makers here in the UK. 🇬🇧 2. What is our bestselling summer scent? Hint: You'll find it in one of our collections...
Each ceramic Pott is hand-thrown by local artisans, giving it its own little quirks and personality. No two are quite the same – and that’s the beauty of it. When something’s made by hand, it carries a little of the person who made it.
Our candles are blended and poured by hand, using natural wax, 100% essential oils, and sustainable fragrance oils. We switch up our scents with the seasons, so there’s always something new to lift your mood
and bring warmth into your space.
At the heart of Pott is a simple kind of kindness: to the earth, to the people who make our products, and to you. Because when something’s made with care, it makes you feel good too.
The seasons will change. The scents will change. But your Pott? That’s with you for the long haul.

Our Story
Pott began during lockdown, when Ailis was living in Australia, far from home, with more time on her hands and a candle-making kit she’d nearly forgotten about. She started making candles for friends—tokens that brought some light when the world felt uncertain and heavy.
Her friends, also living far from home, lit them daily. And when the candles burned down, they asked if she wanted the vessels back. It was a small gesture—but one that sparked a big question:
Why aren’t refillable candles a thing?
When Ailis asked the big candle companies, they told her it couldn’t be done. So she set out to prove them wrong, developing her own formula.
She partnered with a potter she discovered on Etsy to create the first 100 pots—each one thoughtfully handcrafted and meant to last. She expected them to last for months. They sold out in three hours.
What began as a thoughtful gift among friends has grown into something more: a celebration of craft, sustainability, and design with purpose.
At Pott, we believe beautiful things should be made to last. That objects should carry meaning. And that together, we can light the way to something better.
