We’ve teamed up with British knitwear designer Genevieve Sweeney on The Cableknit Collection which includes a knitwear inspired Pott and the most beautiful of Christmas crackers. To celebrate this cosy collab, we caught up with Genevieve to talk work, winter habits, and the realities of Christmas chaos.

Launching Tuesday 9th December, 7pm

Give us a quick whistle-stop tour: what does a typical December day look like for you?

December days are full on- in an exciting way, I get to work 1.5 hours before the team and have a coffee, light my Pott Candle and write my to-do list, work on future plans and film any content. Then, when the team arrives, we are full on knitting, monogramming, and packing Christmas orders for our customers. It's always a really fun time of year with customers dropping by to order gifts in person and get them gift-wrapped - I love it as I get to have a coffee with them and have a good chat.

You make the most glorious knitwear - do you have a favourite piece from your collection?

It's so hard to pick a favourite as each is so fantastic for different times.... GS Walking socks - a must have for walking, adventures, gardening- it's honestly so comfortable. I live in them - and also wear them as slippers.
Oversized Geometric Lambswool scarf - I can't live without them, bundling under them when keeping cosy in the grey, cold British weather or draped over your shoulders at work or on the sofa- it's a must-have. So great for travelling!
At the moment, I can't get enough of my Lin lambswool sparkly set... It's a 4-piece: the most elegant jumper and skirt with matching hood and oversized scarf. It feels incredible on and is so amazing for festivities, then pair separately in the new year with cosy cardigans and chunky knits. I am in love and will be wearing this for every event this month and throughout Christmas and New year.

What’s your favourite Christmas tradition? Do you have one you really look forward to every year?

When the final post has gone, I come home and cook a ham which we eat on Christmas Eve with homemade chips - the house fills with oranges, apples and lemons - it's the moment where Christmas has started, and I have stopped work. We aren't very traditional with the meal on Christmas Day - this year it's just me, my husband and the kids.... so we are not doing a big meal, we will be playing with the kids and eating posh canapes all day. I would love this to be our new tradition! Haha.

We’ve made a cracker together (mercifully without the joke)…what’s the worst Christmas joke you’ve ever heard?

O gosh, there are so many..... lets go for one on theme... Why are christmas trees so bad at knitting? Because they always drop their needles

What’s on your Christmas list this year — big or small?

I don't have anything on my list this year, as it's so hectic on the run up I just want a day with the kids, playing and enjoying good food and drink.
As I run a small business, family and friends gift gorgeous items made by small businesses, which I love and adore as there is so much thought in it.
